Bladder stones are very common in dogs and cats.
 
Rooby, a six year old Corgi was presented for straining and blood in her urine.  Physical exam revealed a thickening of the bladder.  A radiograph was taken and numerous stones were detected.  Surgery was performed to remove the stones and she was put on a specific diet to ensure crystals are dissolved.  Rooby is now doing great.  Bladder stones are very common in dogs and cats.  Symptoms include frequent urination, blood in the urine and straining.
