Madge
Animals have an affinity for eating all kinds of interesting things.

Madge, a five year old overweight domestic shorthair female was observed eating an embroidery needle by the owner.  Madge was taken to the emergency clinic where a radiograph was performed.  The needle was observed in the stomach, recommendation was surgical removal.  Madge was presented the following morning to Buckner Terrace Animal Clinic, where an exploratory laparotomy was performed.  The needle had moved from the stomach through the small intestine to the cecum.  A small incision was made in the small intestine.  The needle was extracted along with approximately eight inches of thread.  Recovery uneventful and Madge is her normal, happy self.
